What is Micro SD Connector?
The Micro SD Connector (formerly known as TF card, T-Flash, or TransFlash) is an electronic component specifically designed to interface with micro SD memory cards. It is commonly used in mobile phones, cameras, GPS devices, laptops, and IoT products to enable card insertion/removal and electrical connectivity.
As of June 2025, several Micro SD CAD specifications are available.
Features and Applications of Micro SD Connector
- Electrical Contacts: Contains metal terminals that connect with the gold fingers on micro SD cards.
- Data Transmission & Power Supply: Supports data transfer (e.g., SPI, SDIO, UHS protocols) and provides working voltage.
- Mechanical Retention & Hot Swapping: Securely holds the card and supports frequent insertions/removals.
- Miniaturized Design: Ultra-compact size suitable for space-constrained devices (e.g., mobile phones, wearables).
- High Durability: Typically supports ≥5,000 insertion/removal cycles.
- Strong Compatibility: Suitable for microSD, microSDHC, and microSDXC formats (depending on model).
- Electrical Stability: Excellent conductivity and supports high-speed data transfer (e.g., UHS-I/UHS-II).
- Dustproof & Mis-insertion Protection: Includes alignment and locking mechanisms to prevent card damage or poor contact.
Application Fields
Used in smartphones, tablets, digital cameras, camcorders, automotive systems, industrial controllers, IoT devices, single-board computers, and wearables.
Types of Micro SD Connectors
- Push-Push: Insert to latch, press again to eject.
- Push-Pull: Manual insertion and removal with a simple structure.
- Hinged / Flip Type: Flip-cover design, often used in development boards or harsh environments.
Where to Buy Micro SD Connector
Micro SD Connectors are considered mature products. Taiwanese manufacturers such as C.C.P. Contact Probes Co., Ltd. and Anytronic Corporation Limited have been producing them since 2007. Materials like LCP and NT6T are commonly used, and various specifications are widely adopted across wearable devices, smartphones, tablets, and other electronics.
